Every year, sometime in July, ownership and key staff gather together to discuss the upcoming season. We talk through leagues and specials pricing, league bowler benefits, and ways to more frequently engage our customers, league and open play customers alike, in the pastime that they enjoy; bowling.
This year, we will be rolling out the new year-end Shootout Tournament, at both centers separately. League bowlers will qualify as a Bowler of the Week (most pins over average series) for a chance to enter the Bowler of the Month Tournament. Tournaments will be held monthly (October-May) and 1 in 5 entries will cash, as well as earn the right to enter the year-end Shootout Tournament. Budweiser has also agreed in principle to co-sponsor the new event, with monthly giveaways and specials. Look for complete rules and the Hollywood Bowl or Parkway Lanes/Budweiser Shootout Standings at your league's host center.
Also new this year, the USBC has added benefits of membership for Youth bowlers that Youth Program Directors at both Parkway Lanes and Hollywood Bowl think your youth bowler will enjoy. The USBC has an eye on creating youth bowling, more than ever, as a sport and is asking its participants and their parents to treat it like they would soccer, baseball and volleyball. All 48 Bowl Youth Program participants will be receiving official USBC Youth jerseys! For the younger ages, a new section of our 48 Bowl website will be created called Bowlopolis, and it goes hand-in-hand with the in-center Bowlopolis program. As ownership and key staff met this July, we also heavily discussed our 48 Bowl Priority Card, which is good for discount bowling and drinks at both centers, when you are a league member at either location. We will bring back the same benefits, at the same rates, and are adding Saturday mornings to available discounted practice time. As you bowl league this year, don't forget to ask for your 48 Bowl Priority Card, and then, don't forget to take advantage of its bowling savings!
Finally, a word about the changes we have made to our business over the last few months. If you are reading this, you probably already know we are on FaceBook and Twitter, but did you also know we have a 48Bowl YouTube channel? We want to engage you in the excitement and camaraderie of the sport of bowling and have given some key staff the responsibility of making funny, inspiring, "wow-factor" videos that also give you a behind-the-scenes look at our center. We have one posted to our 48bowl.com site now, but will be releasing them every couple of weeks on YouTube beginning September 1st.
