Kids Bowl Free is Beginning Soon!

Were you a part of the first year of the amazing Kids Bowl Free program at Hollywood Bowl & Parkway Lanes? Yes? Well, we are happy to announce that it is back for a second season! If you don't know what we are raving about, keep reading.

The Kids Bowl Free program is open to ages 5-15 and allows each registered child to bowl 2 FREE games, daily, when open lanes are available. Shoe rental is not included, but unlimited shoe passes can be bought for $10 per person. Adults and older or younger siblings can also get in on the action with the family pass. Details about this great and inexpensive pass will be sent to you upon registration.

Last year we gave away tens of thousands of games to Lincoln area youth and we intend to do it again. Although, truthfully, we'd like to give away MANY more. It might sound crazy, but tell all your friends that your kids are bowling FREE all summer. Tell them you can get them the same deal and send them to 48bowl.com to register! We'd like every child ages 5-15 in Lincoln to register for this program and spend their time with friends and family in a healthy activity that anyone and everyone can do!

Glo-Zone, No-Wait Lane Reservations and...New Year's Eve?

Fall is here and we're rapidly approaching colder weather, which means our buildings will be BUSY! Parkway Lanes and Hollywood Bowl will begin to have wait lists for prime time open bowling. But don't worry, we have options to beat the lines and if you didn't plan enough ahead, both locations have great bar and grills to pass your time.

If you are thinking about a date night out at Hollywood Bowl, why not make a lane reservation so that you can be assured of no-wait bowling? Just call us at 402-466-1911 and ask to speak with a shift manager for a lane reservation. The $20 per-lane deposit can be paid online!

Friday night is Glo-Zone bowling with music and lights at Parkway Lanes, from 10 PM - 12:30 AM. Make an advance lane reservation by 8 AM the Friday of for only $60, which includes all bowling and shoe rental for up to 6 people! The lane reservation can be made in-person at Parkway or online at www.48bowl.com. Click on The 48 Bowl Store, then Parkway Lanes Glo-Zone Bowling. If you prefer to walk-in that night, lane rentals can be purcahsed for $75 for the duration of Glo-Zone or pay the $5 per game and $2.50 per shoe rental rates.

If you really like to be ahead of the game, New Year's Eve lane reservations are now available. You can make them in-person at either center or online at www.48bowl.com. Click on The 48 Bowl Store, then Special Events. Prices vary by time and center, but each include bowling, shoe rental, pizza, champagne, soda and party favors! Don't wait, we've already had lanes purchased!

Bowlers!

Welcome back to another busy fall season! While our centers will be often be full with the arrival of fall leagues, we would like you to know that we still have lanes for you, your family and friends to open bowl. We do recommend that you always contact the center about lane availability before your arrival, but we still have great rates including Happy Hour, from 3-6 PM, weekdays and Late Date Special, 9-Midnight, Sunday through Thursday. To find out about these rates and open bowling, call Parkway at 483-7763 or Hollywood at 466-1911.

Don't forget to Go Glo-Zone at Parkway Lanes on Mondays and Fridays. You can take advantage of our Late Date special rates on Mondays and bowl in the dark with lights & music from 9 PM - close. Friday evening Glo-Zone lane reservations are available now by contacting Parkway Lanes at 483-7763.

Hollywood Bowl and KZUM 89.3 FM/HD will be bringing you the First Annual Blues Brews & Bowling Poker Run, Saturday, October 9th. Whether you ride or not, proceeds from all open bowling sales that day will go to the community radio station. If bowling or a poker run is not your thing, but you want to support the station, try the craft beer tasting & food pairing experience from noon - 3 PM. $15 will buy your ticket to sample 9-12 craft beers from Nebraska and around the country, expertly paired with food. All attendees will have a chance to win one of five brewer prize packs. Everyone is welcome to stick around for the live music beginning at 4:30 PM! Jerry Pranksters will go on stage first and rock the lanes until Levi William takes over at 8 PM. If you participate in the poker run, bowling or craft beer tasting, your entry to the live music is free, otherwise a small door fee will be charged. 48 Bowl, Inc. is a local family business and we support our Lincoln's Community Radio, KZUM 89.3 FM/HD! Well, it is that time of year again when our centers are full from open to close! If you are the type of customer that only comes into the centers once or twice a year from December - February, here are a few good tips to avoid disappointment or a bad bowling experience.

1) Call ahead to check lane availability. Sometimes customers assume that we have open lanes, show up at the center, and are told that we are full or leagues, tournaments, high school matches or holiday parties. You want to bowl and everyone else does, too!

2) Consider making a lane reservation. It is easy to do, but requires at least 1-2 days notice. If for instance, its Tuesday and you think you want to bowl on Saturday night, call Hollywood Bowl (466.1911) and ask about lane availability for the time you would like to bowl. Then ask to reserve a lane if the time is open. You will then be asked to pay a $20 per lane deposit by no later than Friday at noon, in-center or online. (You must make reservations in person or via phone before paying for an online reservation deposit.) Its easy and convenient and guarantees you will have a lane with no wait. (Deposits must be paid by noon the day prior to your reservation, and noon Friday for Saturday/Sunday reservations.)

3) Look for our deals. Yes, we run deals, even during our peak time of year. When LPS is on school break (Dec. 21st - Jan. 1st), we will run 2 games and shoes for $7 per person Monday-Friday, 8 am - 6 pm, as lanes are available. We also have 2 games and shoes for $8 per person, Sunday - Thursday, 9 pm to close, all the time! If you like to bowl late, are on college break, or just want the great prices, do not miss this special!

4) We are closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day to allow our employees time to be with their families. We are, however, open New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. Hours vary by center, so call ahead. Introducing the NEW 48 Bowl Shootout!

Every year, sometime in July, ownership and key staff gather together to discuss the upcoming season. We talk through leagues and specials pricing, league bowler benefits, and ways to more frequently engage our customers, league and open play customers alike, in the pastime that they enjoy; bowling.
This year, we will be rolling out the new year-end Shootout Tournament, at both centers separately. League bowlers will qualify as a Bowler of the Week (most pins over average series) for a chance to enter the Bowler of the Month Tournament. Tournaments will be held monthly (October-May) and 1 in 5 entries will cash, as well as earn the right to enter the year-end Shootout Tournament. Budweiser has also agreed in principle to co-sponsor the new event, with monthly giveaways and specials. Look for complete rules and the Hollywood Bowl or Parkway Lanes/Budweiser Shootout Standings at your league's host center.
Also new this year, the USBC has added benefits of membership for Youth bowlers that Youth Program Directors at both Parkway Lanes and Hollywood Bowl think your youth bowler will enjoy. The USBC has an eye on creating youth bowling, more than ever, as a sport and is asking its participants and their parents to treat it like they would soccer, baseball and volleyball. All 48 Bowl Youth Program participants will be receiving official USBC Youth jerseys! For the younger ages, a new section of our 48 Bowl website will be created called Bowlopolis, and it goes hand-in-hand with the in-center Bowlopolis program. As ownership and key staff met this July, we also heavily discussed our 48 Bowl Priority Card, which is good for discount bowling and drinks at both centers, when you are a league member at either location. We will bring back the same benefits, at the same rates, and are adding Saturday mornings to available discounted practice time. As you bowl league this year, don't forget to ask for your 48 Bowl Priority Card, and then, don't forget to take advantage of its bowling savings!
Finally, a word about the changes we have made to our business over the last few months. If you are reading this, you probably already know we are on FaceBook and Twitter, but did you also know we have a 48Bowl YouTube channel? We want to engage you in the excitement and camaraderie of the sport of bowling and have given some key staff the responsibility of making funny, inspiring, "wow-factor" videos that also give you a behind-the-scenes look at our center. We have one posted to our 48bowl.com site now, but will be releasing them every couple of weeks on YouTube beginning September 1st.
